Give Me Faith

I just can't get enough of this song.  A few weeks back we sang it at our youth Spring Retreat and it has quickly become one of my favorites!  I just wanted to share it with y'all!

Enjoy!!

Margo Home Makeover

I can't believe the weekend is already over and the work week has began again. It seems like weekends seem to fly by especially if you are just planning on relaxing and doing nothing.  I LOVE those types of weekends but this weekend was not one of those types of weekends.  This Saturday was spent with members of the youth group living out Mark 12:31 to the fullest.

The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:31

As a group we got a chance to help a wonderful lady in our community and make a difference in her life.  Margo works at one of our local high schools and she was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.  She is a big supporter of ETHOS*!  On Saturday we went to Margo's home and did some landscaping and painted her home.  It felt so good to give back to the community and love on someone who truly deserves to be loved!

*ETHOS is a local event that is held monthly to get students together and connect them together and teach them about Christ. It is something that many churches in our community are involved with.

God, Are You Serious?

"Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you.”Joshua 3:5

After a lesson a few Sunday's ago by the youth pastor of our church I felt encouraged to read Joshua. This book has been full of many things to think about but the one thing that has stood out to me is how obedient and trusting the men that are following Joshua are.  How many people would just stop what they are doing, leave their wives, children and livelihood to do something that sounds absolutely crazy? Not many, I'm guessing.

As I have read this it has got me thinking about me and the my walk.  Here's a brief summary of Joshua so far - Moses has died and Joshua is here.  He is told to gather up the men and travel across the Jordan River (which is a huge river if you didn't know).  Now not only are the men to cross this river but they are to bring with them the ark of the covenant.  That would scare me a bit especially knowing how valuable and important the ark of the covenant was at that time.  Well, Joshua tells the men what is going to be done and they all agree to follow him because they trust him.  WOW!! As they stepped into the river with the ark the water STOPPED flowing so that they could make it across.  The water stayed this way until it made it through.  How amazing is that?  You know at some point they were like this is a BAD idea but they did it anyway and look what happened.  Well, back to what this got me thinking about..

How many times in our week day do we feel as if God is nudging us to do something that totally requires us to step out of our comfort zone? If you are like me, it happens and sometimes I just think "God are you serious?" Well, as I have been reading I have felt the need to act on those nudges when they come up and the feeling you get afterward is awesome!. I have this immense feeling of joy! That is such a great feeling!

When the nudges happen what are we thinking?
  • Bad things that could happen
  • Is this really God?
  • Being criticized
  • Being alone
  • God, Are You Serious?
I know those are a few things I think but what about you? When these feelings come we must think that God is in control and his desire is for us to do his will and no matter how that makes us look I will serve the Lord and do His desire.  So the next time you have the nudging feeling..Are you going to listen and obey? or Are you going to continue to ignore Him?

"And looking at them Jesus said to them, "With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
Matthew 19:26
